The Project

Beyond Suspicion is an ambitious new film project being developed by Ignite Productions & Entertainment LLC. The film is slated to be shot in historic Corsicana, Texas during the fall of 2013. Producers James Willis and James Brandt have teamed up to launch their first crowd funding campaign through Indiegogo.com. Crowd funding has rapidily become a popular new source for financing independent films. Unlike traditional methods of film finance, sites such as Kickstarter and Indiegogo allow anyone to voice their support for a project through donations. This eliminates the first road block to many films, studio formulas and politics.

Beyond Suspicion

A film by James A Willis

Script by James B Brandt

Genre: Psychological thriller

Tagline: Sometimes any choice you make will kill you...

Logline: SHERRY DURHAM, FBI Profiler and Psychic, is honored to be invited to work with renowned true crime writer HAL BINGHAM to work on his first fictional book. The visit to his Texas home presented only a single problem: She was the topic of his next murder... and it wasn't fiction.

Synopsis: SHERRY DURHAM, PhD, arrives in Corsicana, Texas to assist HAROLD "HAL" BINGHAM research police profiling for a new novel he plans to write; a novel with startling theories and an even more startling factual basis. Bingham, well-known for his books covering true crime stories - especially serial killers - believes that a series of murders from 1990 to 2000 were all committed by the same person, even those separated by large distances and with different signatures for each string of murders.

As the talk winds its way through point-and-counterpoint over Bingham's theory, Durham begins to get an uneasy feeling that things are just not quite right. First, she is uncomfortable with Bingham's gentle probes into a time in her life she would prefer remained hidden. Then, there is a lighter that gives her a strange sensation of impending doom. And Bingham's macabre collection of knives, ropes, and other mementos from a string of unsolved murders intensify her unease... before long, she begins to suspect that not all of the weapons were reproductions, as Bingham claims. Unknown to Durham, someone is watching her every move through the house's security system. The time to run... is past.

During the early hours of their discussion, a severe rain storm rolls into north central Texas, flooding the tributaries leading to the catch-lakes South of Dallas. While Bingham and Durham enjoy a meal cooked by his housekeeper Consuela - who leaves before the rains reach Corsicana - the flooding and storms move into the area. Durham is trapped when the roads are flooded.

Following dinner, Durham, resigned to being forced to spend the night, learns that Bingham's wife and youngest daughter left him after an altercation over the wife’s infidelity. Bingham kept his older daughter and son, but the wife and youngest just vanished from his life. It to is this daughter's room that Bingham takes Durham for the night. It is a delightful room, but as Durham is preparing the bed, she discovers it has a dark and sinister secret - the rape and murder of Bingham's youngest daughter is captured in the teddy bear she used to try and beat off her attackers - to no avail.

Are the displays downstairs real? She must know... she waits until late, then makes her way downstairs, first to the kitchen to get a knife, then she intends to check out the displays... but she is sidetracked by CHAD, Bingham's son who was supposedly trapped across the river. She has a very uncomfortable conversation as Chad grabs a midnight snack. As soon as she can, she retreats to the bedroom, to wait a later hour for her furtive investigations.

She waits for that magic hour when she thinks all will be asleep... still observed in her every movement. She carefully makes her way to the office and her psychic ability confirms that her nightmare is real: the weapons were from dozens of unsolved murders. Then she learns that her fear is not her worst nightmare at all... she is not the only serial killer in the house.
